Smoothies are a great way to get a lot of nutrition, especially on the go. I love smoothies for breakfast. Throw everything in your blender and run out the door.
This recipe does not call for a lot of ingredients but it is not lacking in taste and nutrition.
Pumpkin is a great source of fiber, potassium, and vitamin C. Also, the orange color lets you know that it is loaded with Vitamin A.
I love adding cinnamon to my smoothies! (And anything else I can add it too.) There are so many health benefits! It protects heart health. Helps fight diabetes. Lowers risk of cancer. Helps fight infections. Great for dental health. Those are just a few of the benefits.
Oat flour has been known to reduce heart disease, lower cholesterol, control blood sugar levels, and decrease blood pressure. Another benefit is it keeps you full longer! That helps when you are trying to control the snacking.
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
½ cup old fashioned oats
15 oz can pure pumpkin (about 1 ½ cup)
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
1 Tblsp raw honey or pure maple syrup
1 ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
10 ice cubes
- Place old fashioned oats in blender. Blend until a course flour.
- Add remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly.
- Pour into cups, grab a straw and enjoy.
