Cinnamon rolls are another food I have gone without for a long time. How could we make cinnamon rolls without sugar? We have not eaten refined sugar in over 6 1/2 years. As I get braver and experiment more, I am finding ways to make our favorite treats that fit within our whole foods diet.
When my oldest son was in elementary school he would sometimes buy school breakfast. A side note: I did not know he was doing this for a long time. He would eat breakfast at home, then go to school and eat their breakfast if it was good. I would ask him why the lunch money was going so fast, and then finally the school asked me if I knew that he was eating breakfast at school. So funny what kids will do.

I had some barley in my pantry that I wanted to try making some biscuits or rolls with. I made these rolls for our family dinner and they were gone in a hurry!
The barley gives the rolls a slight nutty flavor.
Barley is part of the grass family. It is generally used as a cereal. Barley is high in dietary fiber, magnesium, vitamin B6 and low in fat! So much nutrition! Who knew!?!
It is important to get as much nutrition as you can from the food you eat. Your body will thank you for it!
6 1/2 years ago when my husband said he thought he found a way for me to get rid of my fibromyalgia and arthritis with the food I ate I thought he was crazy. I have learned a lot about the foods we put in our bodies and that it really does make a big difference!
Not only has it made a difference with my aches and pains but I have more energy. My thyroid function has improved. And my osteoporosis has drastically improved! In fact I don’t have osteoporosis anymore!

This cornbread recipe is very simple. Only 7 ingredients and it is delicious! I love recipes that you don’t need a lot of ingredients for. Simple is so much easier!
Eating a whole food diet does not mean the recipe needs to be difficult or time consuming.
Most cornbread recipes call for sugar. Some have a little sugar and some have a lot. For this recipe I chose not to add any sweetener. When I eat cornbread I generally top it with butter and honey. To me this is enough of a sweetener. Especially if you are eating the cornbread with chili or beans.

What is it about biscuits that are so yummy? Especially with lots of butter on top! Yum!
These biscuits are a little different because of the cheese in them. I also love cheese so these are a win win!
Another great win is that they are super easy to make! When you think “eat healthy, whole food” what is the first thing to come to mind? For me it was “Oh no, I am going to be in my kitchen all day cooking!”
I hope my recipes are showing you that eating healthy can be quick and easy.

Summertime is a time for family barbecues! And neighborhood barbecues. So when you are eating healthy what do you do for your buns? Lettuce? That is what we do all too often.
I LOVE bread! I feel like when I miss out on the bun my meal is not as “hearty”. So. . . now you can make your own!
