It is that time of year!  Get the sweaters and boots out, watch the leaves change color, and my personal favorite, start the hunt for pumpkin foods.  If you are like me and LOVE all things pumpkin then you will also LOVE this Pumpkin Pie Smoothie!

A quick and easy snack

When the need for a quick and easy snack arises, smoothies are such a perfect solution.   Smoothies are a great way to get a lot of nutrition, especially on the go.  On those rushed mornings I just throw everything in my blender and run out the door.

This recipe does not call for a lot of ingredients however it sure does earn high points in taste and nutrition.

The seasonal “pumpkin everything” necessity serves as a remarkable source of fiber, potassium, and Vitamin C.  Even the vibrant orange colors evidence  of the rich Vitamin A.

Health Benefits of Cinnamon

Such a complimentary spice to pumpkin is…cinnamon!   I love adding cinnamon to my smoothies!  There are so many health benefits!  Whether it be for health of the heart, helping fight diabetes, lowering risk of  cancer or infection, or even dental health, the benefits are endless.  With a dash of cinnamon, the flavor is complete and health is only improving with each sip.

Health benefits of Oats

Ultimately the more healthy ingredients used, the more benefits there will be available.  Another beneficial ingredient to add to the mix is oat flour.  Oat flour has been known to reduce heart disease, lower cholesterol, control blood sugar levels, and decrease blood pressure.  These may seem small, unnoticeable things, but they play such a huge part in creating the strong and healthy body we all want.

For another benefit that anyone could truly notice and appreciate, the oats keep you full longer!  No more feelings of hunger constantly throughout the day.  Just by adding some oat flour, you now have an efficient way to help control the snacking.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

  • ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • 15 oz can pure pumpkin (about 1 ½ cup)
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 Tblsp raw honey or pure maple syrup
  • 1 ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 10 ice cubes


  • Place old fashioned oats in blender. Blend until a course flour.
  • Add remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly.
  • Pour into cups, grab a straw and enjoy.
