Wild flower hike

Last weekend my husband and I went on a wild flower hike at Brighton ski resort here in Utah.  It was beautiful!  They had 4 levels of hikes, beginner, easy, intermediate, and advanced.  We decided to try the advanced hike.  I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do an advanced hike. But the advanced hike went to the lake and I really wanted to hike to the lake. I don’t know that it was really advanced but it was a beautiful hike.  And I was able to do it!  I feel so accomplished every time I do something like this.

Every time I go hiking I am so grateful that I am able to go hiking!  I am so appreciative that I feel good and can enjoy life.  6 years ago there is no way I could have gone on this hike and enjoy the beautiful flowers, the lake, the time with my husband.  Really just enjoying God’s creations and life!

It took time to build up to this point.  I took it a step at a time, literally.  I love being outside!  It does a lot of good for me mentally to get some fresh air and vitamin D from the sun.  You also need to keep the joints moving.

Exercise is important in the process of being healthy and without pain.   It is also important to have support.  Whether your support is a spouse, friend, family member.  It helps to have someone to be accountable too.  I am so lucky to have my husband that supports me every step of the way and encourages me to be the best I can be.

I am here to support you too!  You can do this!  You will be rewarded for taking care of your body.  And the reward is awesome!

  1. Hi Shanon…I’m enjoying you blog!! I will be trying some of the recipes. I do have a question. Is it possible to do your home made bread in a bread making machine? The recipe is for about 5 loaves and I can’t eat that much bread😜! No really, because of my diabetes I have to watch my carb in take but I love bread. Stephanie and I are trying the whole foods way. Cutting out a lot of the process foods. Sometimes we fall off the wagon but we’re trying. I enjoy looking at the pics of you and your family on FB. Miss you my sweet, dear friend. You guys look great. We will definitely look you up when we go to Utah. Love ya 😘 Maria

    1. Thank you so much for your support!! Yes you can make the bread in your bread machine. We just need to figure out how much to break the recipe down. Something to consider too is the bread freezes great. We slice the bread and freeze it then we take it out by the slice.
Also, did you see my post yesterday about the different types of carbs? I am not say you can have a lot just maybe it won’t hurt you?

      1. Maria the break down would be 1 1/2 c. water, 3 Tblsp. oil, 6 Tblsp. honey, 1/2 Tblsp. yeast, 1/2 Tblsp. salt, 3 3/4 cup. flour. Let me know how it turns out.

I would love to hear what you think or if you have questions
